Claddagh Cross Tattoo?
I have been wanting to get a tattoo for my partner. i wanted something that represented strength, loyalty & love and i came across the claddagh cross which i think looks amazing & very appropriate for what i want.
The only thing is is that the claddagh is an Irish catholic symbol- and i am neither Irish nor catholic. So do you think it would still be ok to have such a tattoo with the reasons given, i really respect & like what the tattoo symbolises - besides people have other things like chinese symbols, polynesian, tribal etc? I would appreciate any constructive opinions on whether i should go ahead with the tattoo or not. Many thanks.

The Claddagh itself is not a religious symbol, a claddagh with a cross is.
It’s widely recognised as an Irish symbol so be ready for people to always ask if you are in fact Irish and when you tell them your not they may think it’s strange. Your right about people having chinese tattoos and not being chinese but that’s a physically obvious one. Go for it
I love the post “I’m Irish and my cousins r Irish” lol
Just so you know it’s Friendship not Strength
Tattoos are not ethnically segregated. You may have someone assume you’re Irish if they see the claddagh, but is that a problem? My brother has a Norse tattoo, and is planning two others, which is fine, both of our parents have Norse ancestry. It would still be fine even if there were no Scandinavian in our background, although others may question the reason for the tattoos.
don’t get it too big or it’ll look weird. and it’s a cross so it might look kinda religious.
but no one’s going to care that it’s an irish catholic symbol (unless they’re like uber religious and all “oh, you’re defacing the meaning of the cross”). and if you respect the meaning then who are they to complain? you’re right loadsa people have chinese symbols so screw it, if you like it, by all means go ahead.
I used to have a nice Claddagh ring. I’m not religious either. Like you said, many have chinese etc. And half of them probably don’t really know what they mean.
http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl… I just found this too.
If you love the design, get it
Yeah, go for it!!! I love the way the Irish cross looks. And you’re right…people get Chinese symbols and stuff tattooed on them, and they aren’t even Chinese. If others do it, why not you?? Your reasons for getting this tattoo are solid, in my opinion. You should absolutely get it.
ehh i am irish and i want to get a claddagh, my cousins r irish, one has a few claddagh symbols and the other has a 4 leaf clover. i wouldnt get nething out of ur background. i mean if i saw someone of say a hindu culture with a claddagh id be like ummmm Y?
Do it, a tattoo is whatever you want it to be. maybe you could change it a little so its not exactly the same as an irish/catholic cross
its up to you if you wanted a tattoo but if you split up with your partner in the end it would be quite a bummer to have that tattoo though.
hope i helped
Unless you are the religious type then i say go for it. It only matters what you think, not others.
If you love it go for it.I have the Australian symbol(southern cross,5 stars) on my arm and i’m Irish
I’ve never seen it done this way before!
I’m still catching up…. Seems you are covering every genre, musically. Your vocals are unquestionably lovely. I just wonder, in what direction are you heading?
a most beautiful air truly devine thanks for great memories
r u talking about ink blowouts?
i got a ring and necklace when i turned 13.
lol, it does? omg im irish I should kno this stuff. ive been wearing it outward on my left hand for the longest time because I dont like the way rings feel on my right hand lol
this is just a f***cking great song. this track will last forever
i don't know about alberta, but most places won't tattoo you if you are under 18 no matter what. just wait 5 months, it may take you that long to find a place anyway.
